Johnston Vocal Parents Association (VPA) is a registered 501(C)(3) non-profit organization made up of volunteers who work to support the vocal music programs at Johnston High School and Johnston Middle School. Each year our members contribute both money and time to improve the vocal music experience for our kids. We have people who:
- organize meals,
- work concession stands,
- measure for choir clothes,
- repair costumes,
- chaperone events,
- create sign ups,
- help organize Madrigal and Showzam,
- assemble and transport equipment,
- communicate with parents about upcoming needs and events
and almost everything in between. Our volunteers contribute more than 4,000 hours each year to our vocal music programs, and our fundraising efforts provide scholarships and other financial assistance to individual students and the choirs as a whole, as well as critical equipment such as risers and sound system components. There are many opportunities to get involved, in big or small ways. With more than 680 students over 12 choirs and show choirs, we are always happy to welcome more helpers who want to keep our program strong.
If you are the parent or care-giver to a JHS or JMS choir student, you are already a member of VPA . We are a friendly, welcoming group that meets the second Monday of each month, August through June, at 6:00 p.m. in the rooms adjacent to the JHS black box. See here for meeting dates this year. Come join us — We’d love to see you there!
